The Hangtown Classic today will book the 2021 AMA Supercross and Motocross season. With a supercross season comprised of double- and triple-headers, long breaks in the Pro Motocross season, and 29 total races ran again, the year has felt long. But there is just one more race to go this year, and that will be it for the AMA contingent. Team USA isn’t going to the Motocross of Nations, there is no Monster Energy Cup or Red Bull Straight Rhythm; this is it. For riders who realize that and sense the light at the end of the tunnel, tomorrow’s race is their final opportunity to lay it all on the track before the offseason begins
The season-long rivalry between Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence and Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing’s Justin Cooper has been something to behold, but Lawrence’s late-season run of dominance has given the Australian a 23-point cushion over his Yamaha foe. No matter what happens, the world’s most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing series will welcome its 33rd different member to a decorated list of 250 Class champions.
n the 450 Class, Monster Energy/Star/Yamaha Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis will enjoy a victory lap as the newly crowned champion. The Frenchman has amassed a historic rookie year in the premier division and is poised to become just the ninth rider in history to finish on the overall podium at every round during his first season of full-time competition.
