It ‘s bad when you know you were really well prepared trying to improve what everyone was already perfect, so Jeffrey Herlings current number 1 of the Motocross World will not take part in the first race of the season in Argentina (which starts today with the usual qualifications.) and leaves a poignant message about his state of mind, makes it clear that he wants to come back strong and as we published yesterday in an interview with his words, he had taken a step to be even stronger, but the injuries captain and now his rivals must earn as many points as possible, so Tony Cairoli is called into question by everyone and has an opportunity to win the 10th World Champion title.
Under his words posted on Instagram and the interview published yesterday:
It’s hard, physically and especially mentally, not to be in line this weekend in Argentina for the opening round as the reigning world champion MXGP. Unfortunately, as many of you know, I broke my foot during a training accident in Spain preparing the season. I felt great during the winter preparation and I am convinced I was faster and even more prepared than the 2018 when I won 17 of the 19 rounds and the worst final result was a 2nd.
But being fast is one thing, being in all races is another and for some reason I did not succeed well in the second part.
As I have said many times, my biggest rival for the championship is Jeffrey Herlings himself. Also, in 2014, 2015, I could probably have ruined another championship by taking myself at the start of a championship hunt because of an injury.
In any case, for now, the most important thing is to heal 100% and come back strong when it’s time. I feel like I have disappointed many people and in times like this you find out who is really there for you and who is not. Obviously there are thousands of friends when the sky is clear, but when you enter the difficult part of your care and in life real friends are hard to find, difficult times teach us valuable lessons and difficult times reveal true friends . For now I do not know yet when I will return to run and what are my plans for the rest of the season. I had a lot of injuries in my racing career, but in the last few weeks I took a few steps behind the sport and I gave myself a little break to recharge the battery for the second part of my career, I would say.
And we’ll be back on top as soon as possible. And believe me, we’ll be back with the nr. 1.
