The latest rumours in the US media are that Ryan Dungey wants to race again next season. The four time US supercross champ appears to not quite be content retired anymore and wants that competitive feeling back of racing again to reignite a purpose and goal that isn’t there in retirement, but it’s not a guarantee to happen.
According to journalists Steve Matthes and Jason Weigandt, Dungey would be racing a Honda but needs to find his own backers to buy and run a factory CRF450R for the season and, with the current Covid climate, that might be more difficult than previous years.
You wonder if the competitive Dungey has seen just how fast and competitive his former Red Bull KTM stablemate, Tony Cairoli, still is at 35 in MXGP and watches the US races thinking he should still be able to do a job in the States, especially when Zach Osborne a rider of his era is doing the business in the 450 class.
A Honda-mounted Dungey would definitely bring an extra excitement to the new season but would he still be a front runner with a couple of years off?
