The 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship fires back into life this weekend at a venue which has swiftly become one of the most popular circuits among both riders and fans, in the country where the sport was originally invented! It’s time for MXGP of Great Britain from the incredible Matterley Basin!
The MXGP class has recently seen the return to form of one of its greatest exponents, the man they call “The Bullet”, Jeffrey Herlings. He comes to Matterley looking for his third straight GP win, but it’s been five years since he won here, and championship leader Romain Febvre is fired up to defend his red plate on a circuit which should suit his style! Teenage sensation Lucas Coenen will also be a challenger as he tries to chase down Febvre in the Championship!
There will also be a wildcard appearance in MXGP for nine-time World Champion Antonio Cairoli on the all-new factory Ducati! The Sicilian legend holds the record of six wins here at Mattterley Basin and will turn on the old style for the fans!
The MX2 class is developing into a three-way scrap for supremacy between Germany’s Simon Längenfelder, 2023 World Champion Andrea Adamo, and reigning World Champion Kay de Wolf. Längenfelder has a winning history here at Matterley, but Adamo and De Wolf love this track as well, so watch for some amazing action between them, as well as a crazy pack that contains 10 race winners from this season alone!
