Red Bull Factory KTM Jeffrey Herlings, the five-time World Motocross Champion and the rider with the most Grand Prix wins in the sport’s history, had some intriguing thoughts while watching the recent AMA Supercross round. In an interview with MXLarge, the MXGP of Spain winner revealed that he was perusing the schedule for the upcoming AMA Nationals while watching the Supercross.
Having raced nearly every weekend since he started riding including French, Dutch and next weekend British championship races the rider known as the fastest man on the planet is thinking about doing the impossible and racing a Dutch and AMA championship round on the same weekend.
The AMA race is on the Saturday at Fox Raceway National at Pala, CA with the Dutch race on the Monday at Oldebroek, Netherlands.
Jeffrey Herlings said to MXLarge – You know, there are so many riders out injured and I wasn’t even sure if KTM have a rider on the start for the opening round of the AMA Nationals. I got thinking about it, looked at the schedule and also flights, because I have a round of the Dutch championship on that same weekend and I want to win that championship. With Cooper Webb out, there is something also with Aaron Plessinger, Malcolm Stewart and Christian Craig are out, now Eli is also out and Anderson. I thought maybe I can ride for the Austrian brand, because they are all connected. It is probably hard to organize and I haven’t even told Pit Beirer or Robert Jonass, so I have no idea what they might say about it.
