Kawasaki Factory rider Romain Febvre looked set to go 1-1 at a slick Loket until two crashes with three laps to go left Calvin Vlaanderen inheriting the second moto win!
Febvre said: “That should be my race. I make my own mistake. I hurt my shoulder pretty bad but happy to win the GP.”
Vlaanderen somehow didn’t make the podium meaning he bizarrely wasn’t able to get an interview on MXGP TV despite winning the second moto – maybe that structure should be more fluid to allow for storylines!
Jorge Prado’s mantra now is get a good start and ride within his limits and it almost won him the GP with both Seewer and Febvre crashing in front of him almost enough to hand Prado the GP win without winning a moto. Febvre won the overall by a solitary point over the championship leader!
Tim Gajser rode two steady races with a 9th and 6th and he could have handed Prado the GP win if he had managed to pass Romain Febvre on the last lap – but he couldn’t make the move. Still, a solid return with the speed very close to his rivals already with Jeremy van Horebeek another great ride for 8th overall as he shows he hasn’t lost any speed despite officially retiring last year!
