Savatgy Set to Race Triumph 250 in the Supercross 450 Class!?

    By DirtbikeLoverJanuary 3, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Joey Savatgy has signed with Triumph to race their 250 in 2024. It has been decided by the team and team managers that Savatgy won’t be allowed to race in the 250 AMA Supercross this season.

After the situation arose where Joey Savatgy was unable to participate in the 250 Supercross Championship due to his recent signing with Triumph, he posted a hint about his future racing plans for this season on social media. He posed a question regarding whether he can ride his 250 in the 450 class. Many riders confirmed that he can, and we know that several riders have done this before, making it to the main event, including Justin Starling, who left a comment mentioning his participation in Tampa and making the main event. Starling also noted that McElrath did it in Daytona one year. It will be really cool to see Joey Savatgy participating in some of the 450 Supercross races and trying to qualify for the main event in the deepest field ever in the 450 Class, adding another exciting dimension to his racing career.

When the Pro Motocross series kicks off in May, established star Joey Savatgy will compete for Triumph Racing in the 250 Class. With seven overall wins and 14 overall podium results in the 250 Class, the experienced racer is a former title contender fully focused on a successful season in 2024.

“To be a part of Triumph Racing is very special,” Savatgy said. “For where I’m at in my career, it gives me the opportunity to be back racing on factory equipment, which will allow me to prove to myself that I’m still capable of being a title contender. As the Triumph is an all-new bike, I expected it to take some time to get used to it, but it was actually quite quick and easy. In particular, the chassis has a soft feeling, and this makes the bike really easy and comfortable to ride. The base platform of the standard bike is a great place to work from and I’m excited to get started with this new chapter in my career.”

I don’t even know the rules. Can you actually race a 250 in the 450 class? I thought it had a minimum CC

100% you can. I’ve done it a lot. Made the main in Tampa on one. McElrath did it in Daytona one year too.
