Haiden Deegan Issues Public Apology Following Controversial Interview!

    By DirtbikeLoverMay 6, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Haiden Deegan secured the 250SX AMA Supercross Championship in dramatic style by winning the penultimate round in Denver, following a contentious late-race pass on leader Cole Davies.

In his post-race interview with Jason Thomas, Deegan expressed both determination and defiance:

“With two laps to go, I wanted that win—I was going to do anything to get it,” Deegan said. “This means a lot to me because people doubted me the whole way, saying I was just hype coming into Supercross and Motocross. They’re just mad that I’m him, and they’ll have to deal with it. If they don’t like it, they can suck it.”

The bold remarks drew widespread criticism, prompting Deegan to issue a public apology the following day:

“I want to apologize for what I said in my recent interview. I take full responsibility—it was wrong. To everyone who supports me: I don’t take your support for granted. I’m learning, growing, and doing better moving forward. Thank you for holding me accountable.”

Deegan’s Denver win may have sealed the championship, but it also sparked conversation around sportsmanship, pressure, and the spotlight that comes with being one of the sport’s rising stars.

A trusted source within the Star Racing Yamaha team later confirmed that Deegan received a warning from the AMA for both his aggressive pass on Cole Davies and for comments made during his podium speech. The warning cited “overly aggressive racing” related to the last-lap incident with Davies, as well as a potential Code of Conduct violation. While the exact violation was not specified, it is believed to be #2 from the list below: verbal abuse of a race official, event official, promoter staff, media, fans, etc. A fine may also be issued in connection with this violation.
