When motorsport fans speculated about which of Lewis Hamilton’s fellow drivers might join him at the Met Gala, names like teammate Charles Leclerc and former attendee Daniel Ricciardo were top of mind. But few could have predicted the arrival of 21-year-old Supercross star Jett Lawrence.
The young Australian made an unexpected appearance at fashion’s biggest night in New York City, becoming the first motocross rider ever to attend the prestigious event. “It’s honestly an honor,” Lawrence shared. “It shows that Moto is expanding into new spaces, and I get to help lead that. I’m proud to represent the sport and show the world we’ve got style too.”

In a behind-the-scenes Instagram video, Lawrence broke down his look: a richly embroidered eggplant-colored suit with a unique stitching pattern, paired with a high-collared shirt and subtly flared pants giving off a retro, 80s vibe. He completed the ensemble with a bow tie and glossy dress shoes. “It looks really elegant,” he said. “I’m excited to be wearing it.”
