Following a grueling and hard-fought Supercross season, RJ Hampshire shared an emotional update after falling short of clinching the 250SX championship. In a heartfelt post, Hampshire revealed the personal and professional struggle behind a pivotal decision made before the final round — one that not only impacted him, but also left Seth Hammaker devastated. Though details of the situation remain private, RJ emphasized the deep respect he holds for Mitch Payton and the Pro Circuit Kawasaki team, acknowledging how difficult it was for all involved.
Just a few years ago, Hampshire doubted whether a title was ever within reach. But after proving himself a true contender in 2023, he entered 2024 determined to bring home the championship. Despite coming up short, he thanked his team and everyone who supported his journey, promising to come back stronger.
“The sun still shined this morning,” RJ wrote, looking ahead with optimism. With the Supercross season behind him, Hampshire now sets his sights on the outdoor nationals, ready to tackle the next chapter with grit and determination.
Rj Hampshire posted.- A few years ago I almost believed I’d never have a shot at winning a championship. Last year I proved I could and last night had another shot at one. I fought so dang hard all season just to have that opportunity. A decision I wish I didn’t have to make which was obviously devastating for Seth and myself. I have massive respect for Mitch and his whole team which made the situation even worse.
To my team and the all the people that invested in me, Thank you! Disappointed I couldn’t deliver last night but the sun still shined this morning and I’ll be ready for the next chapter. I will continue to always give my best and grow from this! Looking forward to an awesome summer
