Reigning MXGP Champion Tim Gajser has suffered a huge crash at Trentino after his feet slipped off the pegs while in the air.
The races at the start of the season allow the riders to step up, to prepare well for the first GPs by refining in particular the development of their motorcycles in race condition. But these events do not always bring the expected results, and for Tim Gajser used to participating in the Italian Open this 2023 vintage has very bad taste since the Slovenian fell violently at Arco di Trento, fracturing his right femur. A blow for the defending champion who will therefore miss the start of the season (as a reminder the MXGP of Argentina is scheduled in three weeks) and the HRC team which now places all its hopes on the shoulders of Ruben Fernandez. Below is the press release from the HRC:
“Team HRC’s Tim Gajser had an accident during the second round of the Italian International Championship at Arco di Trento, landing heavily after a big jump and having to be taken off the track by medics. After a full examination at the hospital, it was discovered that Gajser had broken his right femur and will now undergo an operation to repair the injury. Once that happens it will be easier to work out a timeline for his return to action, but for now we wish Tiga every success with his surgery and hope he returns to full health soon. . »
