Steve Matthes has confirmed today that both Jason Anderson and Hunter Lawrence were penalized after the Salt Lake City Main Event incident. They were fined and given warnings. While the official penalty report is not yet available, Steve’s credibility on such matters is well-established.
This incident marks another penalty for Jason Anderson this season. Earlier, he was penalized after the Anaheim 2 Supercross in January for cutting the track and gaining an advantage by passing through a whole section. Anderson was docked only one position for that infraction. At the St. Louis Supercross, he was penalized again for jumping on a red cross flag at the finish line, resulting in a four-position penalty, the most severe among the penalized riders.
Anderson’s aggressive riding style has often been a point of contention in the sport. While his fans appreciate his no-holds-barred approach, it has sometimes landed him in hot water with officials. Despite the penalties, Anderson remains a formidable contender, with a skill set that few can match. His clashes with other riders, including the recent incident with Hunter Lawrence, add a layer of drama and excitement to the races, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
