It was a tough night for the AEO Powersports KTM team at the San Diego round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, with both Talon Hawkins and Avery Long enduring serious crashes. Long’s crash was particularly alarming, as his heavy fall in the Last Chance Qualifier led to a red flag and a significant delay while the Alpinestars Medics attended to him.
RaceX Aaron Hansel has received an update from the AEO team: Long is doing relatively well. He has been released from the hospital and is mostly sore, though he did take a heavy blow to the head. As a result, the rookie pro may sit out this weekend’s Anaheim 2 event.
Unfortunately, Hawkins’ injury is more severe—he sustained a broken femur and will undergo surgery today (Sunday).
