Team USA’s roster for the 2024 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations is nearly finalized. Chase Sexton, the newly-crowned AMA 450 Pro Motocross Champion, and his Red Bull KTM teammate Aaron Plessinger have secured two of the 450 spots. Sexton will captain the team and compete in the MXGP class, while Plessinger will take the Open spot. The event is set for October 5-6 at Matterley Basin in Great Britain. The main uncertainty surrounds AMA 250 Pro Motocross Champion Haiden Deegan, who is awaiting a doctor’s assessment on his wrist today. He needs to decide if he requires minor surgery and has until 5 p.m. to inform the AMA of his participation.
For the MX2 (250 class) spot, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen is next in line, finishing third in the 250 class championship behind Haiden Deegan and France’s Tom Vialle, provided his team commits to the event. Honda HRC’s Chance Hymas, who placed fourth in the championship, is also in the mix and has been actively lobbying the AMA each weekend, eager for the chance to race. Additionally, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s RJ Hampshire, who represented Team USA last year, could be a contender following his strong podium finish at the Ironman National after returning from injury. Stay tuned for further updates on Team USA.
