Davey Coombs Comments on Cairoli and Herlings Racing the US Nationals

    By DirtbikeLoverApril 16, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read

Davey Coombs breaks down the possibility of seeing both Cairoli and Herlings come to the states this summer to race the outdoor nationals.

Coombs provided an update on the possibility of seeing both Cairoli and Herlings come to the states this summer to race the outdoor nationals as well as the current sitation with Bobryshev.

    On Cairoli…

Last September, Antonio Cairoli announced his retirement in Italy and one of the things he told Jason Weigandt was that he wanted to do a couple of AMA Nationals. We reserved number 222 just in case he did decide and we are hearing that we might see him at the first two rounds and then he’ll see how it’s going.

    On Herlings…

There’s a lot of smoke around that fire… I hope it’s true. Jeffrey Herlings is in a situation that he can’t win the World Championship but he is almost certainly going to break Stefan Everts record sooner or later. It’s set nicely for him to do something like a wildcard to come to America and give it a go for the summer. He can do it without having to race Supercross. Supercross isn’t something you learn in the twelfth year or your career. It would be fantastic to have him so fingers crossed. With Plessinger being hurt, with Musquin being SX only that just leaves Webb and if he’s going to race or not. I’ve a feeling that the fire will heat up real quick…

    On Bobryshev…

This is the unfortunate one and I feel horrible for the situation he is in but Evgeny Bobryshev from Russia has been living in the Netherlands and was planning on racing in England for the British Championship. The FIM on March the 6th, said they aren’t working with the Russian federation and Russian athletes. It happened in F1 and the problem is Evgeny has been here in the neighborhood. He’s been working out and riding with the Lawrence Brothers, his wife is here and he really wants to race but the FIM won’t recognize that he is a racer. They won’t release his license until the resolution in Ukraine happens, it will be very difficult for him to race. Who knows when this is going to end, I hope it ends before May the 28th and we get Evgeny out there…
