This weekend marks the start of the Italian Championship, kicking off at the renowned Mantova circuit with races held on the sandy terrain. The MX1 class is expected to see fierce competition at the forefront, with Lupino and the new Ducati facing off against formidable rivals such as Gifting, Monticelli, and Pancar, among others.
The lead rider, as you know. for the Ducati Corse R&D – Factory MX Team will be Alessandro Lupino. The Viterbese will immediately aim for the big target in the MX1 class of the Italian MX Prestige considering also his palmares. The “Wolf,” in fact, is recordman for both the number of titles won and the number of races won in the history of the championship.
Instead, Antonio Cairoli might participate in some appointments. The nine-time World Champion has confirmed his presence in that of Mantua although, probably, he will not have to wear a helmet or boots. Registration for the race, however, expires on Thursday (March 14, 2024, ed.) and a last-minute surprise would be most welcome.
