Eli Tomac of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing–for now at least–secured another second position at the third round of the 2025 Pro Motocross season, round 20 of the SMX World Championship. Tomac was third in moto one; a result that even he described as fortunate. A shock change turned his fortunes around in the second moto, however, and he was making a run at Honda HRC Progressive’s Jett Lawrence when he fell in a similar manner to the way that he did at Hangtown.
“My riding’s been really good, but I keep letting Jett start in front of me,” Tomac said. “I went through 21 tear-offs in 10 laps.” He salvaged a third in Moto 1 and adjusted his shock for Moto 2, where he ran faster but crashed while pushing to pass Jett. “I got excited, rushed a section, and went down,” he admitted. “It all comes down to starts.”
Tomac remains confident but called the roost “out of control” with everyone running scoop tires.
