During the Denver Monster Energy Supercross race, Star Racing Yamaha Eli Tomac sustained a serious injury just three minutes after the start of the 450 Main Event. While leading the race in front of his hometown crowd, he landed hard in the rhythm section, causing him to rupture his Achilles tendon. This unfortunate event resulted in the end of his 2023 season and his hopes of winning a second consecutive championship. Tomac attempted to continue riding, but the excruciating pain forced him to pull out of the race and seek medical attention. Despite his initial lead in the standings, Tomac’s injury dropped him to second place with a seven-point deficit, as Chase Sexton took the lead after his victory.
According to Star Racing Yamaha team manager Jeremy Coker, Eli Tomac raptured his achilles tendon during the incident and will be unable to continue the rest of the 2023 Season!
