After months of silence on social media, the legendary Eli Tomac has finally provided the update fans have eagerly awaited. The 6-time champion and Monster Energy Star Racing rider announced that his recovery from a thumb injury has progressed to the point where he returned to riding a month ago. The plan was for Tomac to return for Budds Creek next weekend, but we don’t have official word on that yet.
Tomac’s injury, which he sustained at the Denver Supercross, was initially expected to sideline him for only the opening rounds of the Pro Motocross Championship. However, as the season progressed, it became clear that his return would take longer than anticipated. Now, with the eighth round of the championship behind us, Tomac has his sights set on a new challenge.
Per Steve Matthes on the Review Pod, Tomac is officially in for the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship. This off-season series features four rounds and will serve as a critical step in Tomac’s preparation for the 2025 AMA Supercross Season.
The 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship schedule is as follows:
- October 26: World Supercross Canadian GP (BC Place, Vancouver, Canada)
- November 23: World Supercross Australian GP (HBF Park, Perth, Australia)
- November 24: World Supercross Australian GP (HBF Park, Perth, Australia)
- December 4: World Supercross Abu Dhabi GP (Etihad Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates)
Tomac’s participation in this series not only marks his return to competitive racing but also sets the stage for his much-anticipated comeback in the 2025 AMA Supercross Season. Fans around the world will undoubtedly be watching closely as the Supercross icon makes his return to the track.
