Eli Tomac recently had a conversation with Steve Matthes discussing the moment in Denver when his achilles tendon snapped, causing him to lose a title and a perfect farewell from the sport. Eli expressed his emotions and shock during that unfortunate incident. Additionally, he shed light on his contract situation, confirming that he will be making a comeback in 2024.
Tomac revealed that his achilles tendon was completely ruptured, and he openly admitted, “Initially, I was filled with anger and frustration towards the world. It was hard to believe what had happened, but eventually, I came to terms with it. I had achieved numerous accomplishments throughout my career, and I questioned if I really needed to pursue more. Nevertheless, I didn’t want to conclude my journey in the sport on this note.”
And that, thankfully is why he’s back with a supercross contract in hand and the option to do MX and SMX. Tomac clarified: “Supercross only right now and see how things go but we are kind of leaving an option there for moto and SMX.”
Tomac is all in for 2024 supercross and hopes to be back on the bike in November.
