Forkner on Payton – “He told me, ‘You’re gonna beat my guys with Triumph”

During the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Anaheim Media Sessions at Angel Stadium, our Mitch Kendra was on hand as series media interviewed over a dozen top riders. In an interview with Austin Forkner, Kendra asked the long-time Kawasaki rider about his decision to switch to Triumph Racing for 2025 and about his final conversation with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki owner Mitch Payton. Forkner answered it simply: “It did make me sad, but at the same time it did make me happy that we didn’t end on bad terms.”
