Haiden Deegan went from being on the ground on the first lap to charging back and making an aggressive pass on Julien Beaumer for third place. After the checkered flag, tensions flared as the two argued, with Deegan slapping Beaumer’s helmet.
Deegan later explained that he was fired up because Beaumer had posted his address on Instagram along with his arrest photo last week. In response, Beaumer dismissed the issue, saying it was public record anyway and adding, “He’s got one coming for him.”
On the podium, Beaumer doubled down, saying, “I wasn’t the only one who posted his address. He can talk all he wants, but that was a public record. I ain’t worried about it—he has one coming for him at Philly.”
Lewis Phillips reported that both riders were fined after Seattle—Beaumer for grabbing Deegan’s helmet and Deegan for slapping Beaumer. The fines are expected to be $1,000 each.
Beaumer got a fine for grabbing Deegan's helmet; Deegan got one for the slap.
