A week ago Daniel Blair suggested that Haiden Deegan might move up to the 450cc class if he had a successful year and dominated the 250cc class in 2024.
After three rounds of the 250SX East Coast championship, Deegan holds the fifth position in the championship, trailing by only three points. This achievement is commendable, particularly given his entry into the series with a wrist injury and his involvement in the first turn pile-up during the opening round.
In Daytona Post-Race Press Conference Deegan was asked about a potential switch to the 450cc class as soon as 2025 which the young American has ruled out – you have to say it is probably the right decision for his career considering he just turned 18 in January.
Deegan said – “No, I’d go make sure I could try and win my back to back title thing, right?” You want to get your 250cc titles before you go up to 450cc. I wouldn’t want to rush that because obviously you guys see how stacked the field is. To move up too early and have problems you know, if you move up too early it’s you got to be smart”. I mean that’s why I have you know my great dad he obviously is going to help me guide me through those things as well my parents my Mum as well”. “There’s guidance behind this and yeah I wouldn’t move up that quick”.
