Trevor Colip crash during 250 Group A qualifying at Hangtown on May 31 resulted in a broken femur—but complications quickly escalated. While in treatment, Trevor became unresponsive. Doctors discovered fat emboli from the fracture had reached his brain, causing multiple strokes and significant brain damage.
Over the past 19 days, he’s undergone several surgeries, including heart and lung procedures. On June 14, his femur was finally stabilized with reduced risk to his brain. Trevor is now awake and responsive, but in extreme pain.
His family is raising funds through Road2Recovery to cover a $65,000 medical flight and $60,000 in therapy costs.

On May 31, 2025, during the second 250 Group A qualifying session at Round 2 of the Pro Motocross Championship, professional motocross athlete @trevorcolip suffered a crash resulting in a broken femur.
What began as a serious but manageable, injury quickly turned critical.
While undergoing treatment, Trevor became unresponsive. After a series of emergency tests, doctors discovered that Fatty Emboli released from the broken femur had reached his brain, causing multiple strokes and significant brain damage. Though his femur was placed in traction correctly, a rare and dangerous leak path in his body allowed emboli to bypass natural filters and travel directly to the brain.
Over the past 19 days, Trevor has undergone multiple surgeries, including heart and lung operations to locate the cause but no confirmed path has been found. On June 14, a surgery was finally performed to stabilize his femur with reduced risk to his brain.
Trevor has been alert and responsive since his most recent surgery but in immense pain.
His family, although being away from work to be with their son across the country the past 19 days, has waited to ask the community for help until they truly felt they needed to. The medical flight needed is estimated around a minimum of $65,000. The intense Physical, Occupational, and Neurological Therapy needed to treat his brain damage is estimated at $60,000.
Donations will go directly to these two costs, and with the next steps and timeline still uncertain, Trevor’s family is grateful for every bit of love and support.
