Honda HRC Jo Shimoda, one of the standout riders in the 250 Class, faced a significant setback during the Unadilla National this past Saturday. The Honda HRC rider was showing his trademark determination and skill in the first moto, charging from behind to secure a commendable fourth-place finish.
In the second moto, Shimoda was on track for another strong performance, battling for the lead against Levi Kitchen. However, things took a turn for the worse when Shimoda suffered a crash that sent him off the side of the track. While it was not a high-speed incident, the crash resulted in Shimoda falling over the edge, which immediately signaled trouble. Despite initial hopes that it might not be too serious, Shimoda was quickly attended to by the medical team and was seen holding his left arm in a sling as he was carted off the track.
Later that afternoon, Honda HRC confirmed the severity of the injury: Jo Shimoda had indeed broken his left collarbone in the crash. This unfortunate injury marks another challenge in what has already been a tough season for the young rider.
Post-Surgery Update: Jo Shimoda Vows to Come Back Stronger
Following the crash and subsequent confirmation of his injury, Jo Shimoda underwent surgery to repair his broken collarbone. Reflecting on the incident, Shimoda expressed his frustration, stating, “It was a crash that I’ve done maybe 100 times and been fine, but this time, trying to move my arm, I felt the bone grinding right away, so that was it for me.”
The injury and resulting surgery are a tough blow for Shimoda, who has faced numerous challenges this season. Despite these setbacks, Shimoda remains positive and is determined to come back stronger. He shared his feelings with fans, saying, “I feel very sorry for people that are supporting me. It’s been a tough season, but also a learning experience over at Honda HRC, and I’m sure we will be back stronger.”
As Shimoda begins his recovery, his fans and the entire motocross community will be eagerly awaiting his return to the track. With his resilience and dedication, there’s no doubt that Shimoda will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the 250 Class.
