For several weeks, and perhaps even months, there has been ongoing speculation and rumors regarding Joey Savatgy securing a position with the upcoming team Triumph Racing, possibly under the banner of Monster Energy Triumph Racing. Now, this speculation has been officially confirmed. Joey Savatgy announced on the PulpMX show that he has signed a two-year contract with Triumph Racing. In 2024, he will compete in the 250 class for Pro Motocross and SuperMotocross, followed by a move up to the 450 class for Supercross, Pro Motocross, and SuperMotocross in 2025.
Joey Savatgy made the transition from the 250 Supercross category to the 450 class a few years ago due to the point-out rule. However, recent rule changes have rendered that point-out rule irrelevant to Savatgy’s situation. Nevertheless, the AMA has not granted him permission to return to the 250 class, limiting his eligibility to compete in a 250 for Pro Motocross and the SuperMotocross Playoffs in 2024.
Savatgy is reuniting with Bobby Hewitt, his former racing partner from 2014. He has officially teamed up with Evan Ferry, and there’s unofficial information suggesting that Jalek Swoll will also be part of the team. We can anticipate more team confirmations after October 1st.
