Monster Energy Factory Kawasaki Jorge Prado recently shared insights into his challenges adapting to the Kawasaki bike in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. He emphasized the need for engine improvements to suit his riding style:
“We need to work on the engine. For my riding style, I need a fast bike.”
Prado highlighted that his success in starts was due to his ability to harness the bike’s power effectively. He acknowledged that while many riders struggle with high power, he could manage it well, leading to consistent holeshots. However, he noted that currently, they are facing challenges both at the start and during races, indicating a need for more power to match his riding preferences. He remains optimistic, believing that with time, the team will address these issues.
“We need to work on the engine. For my riding style, I need a faster bike,” Prado said. “Lewis mentioned that Jeffrey Herlings told him last year, ‘If I had Prado’s engine, I’d die — that bike was ridiculously fast.’
Prado – “We have a lot of work to do in that area. That engine was one of the reasons I had such good starts — I knew how to use the power. A lot of riders struggle with too much power, but I could handle it and get holeshots all the time. Right now, we’re struggling with that, even during the motos. For my style, I need more power. It’s just a matter of time — the team will figure it out.”
