In the second 250 Heat race at Indianapolis Supercross Privateer Larry Reyes went down hard at the end of the first rhythm section at around the halfway mark prompting the red flag to come out and halt the race. Reyes was placed onto a backboard after some time before being lifted onto the medical cart. It started with some bad news for Reyes, he had unknowingly fractured his ankle during a heat race at Daytona, and had been icing it all week without realizing the severity of the injury. Despite the setback, he determined to push through and make the best of the situation. In the second heat race at Indy, disaster struck as the rider went straight over the bars, effectively ending his night. Fortunately, he is okay after the Indy crash, but he will require recovery time for his fractured ankle.
For a privateer rider like him, setbacks like this can be especially difficult. With limited resources and support, it can be a struggle to stay relevant and competitive in a sport that demands nothing but the best. But despite the challenges, the rider was heartened by the outpouring of support from fans and fellow riders who reached out to make sure he was okay.
———————————————–Advertisement——————————————————JR Reyes posted on IG post – What an eventful night at Indy. Started off the night with some news I did not want to hear that being said I fractured my ankle at Daytona during my heat race and I had no idea I was just icing it all week. We wrapped it up and did what we could unfortunately the first heat race went straight over the bars ended my night with some bigger problems.. it’s part of it we’ll be back and stronger for when we get released. I’m more heartbroken on how irrelevant you are for the sport as a privateer in a situation like this. Thank you to the fans and everyone who did reached out and making sure I’m okay! I will post more as my recovery progress!
