At the press conference of the MXGP of Argentina in Villa La Angostura, the promoters of +Eventos and David Luongo, CEO of Infront Moto Racing, talked about the future of the event and announced a new electric support class.
This new class will be a global championship featuring exclusively electric dirt bikes, running alongside the current MXGP Championship. This addition will introduce a fresh dynamic to the series and the sport of motocross.
Over the past 5-10 years, we have witnessed the introduction of electric vehicles in various motorsports, such as Formula E, World Rallycross, and MotoE WC. Now, MXGP is set to join this trend.
Although specific details are currently scarce and the 2026 timeframe may seem distant, the groundwork is being laid for an exciting development in the world of motocross. We anticipate that both new and existing manufacturers will be preparing to compete in this class.
David Eli (+Eventos): “Unfortunately, this is the last year of MXGP Argentina in this venue since it has a new owner and his project is not compatible with our actions. We are already looking for a new venue, maybe not in the Village but surely somewhere nice in Neuquén, which will be defined in the next 90 days. We will have a new venue, with the same mysticism that this one has, and with the possibility of perhaps better connectivity to facilitate greater public attendance”.
David Luongo (CEO Infront Moto Racing): “I want to highlight the work done by the FIM and the local organizer (+Eventos), which shows that collaboration between everyone can achieve miracles. By 2026 there will be a new electric motocross championship that will compete as a support category in the MXGP and will have five or six rounds during the season”
