Nate Thrasher Faces Setback with Hematoma After Qualifying Crash!

Yamaha has provided an update on Nate Thrasher following his DNF-DNS at the opening round of the SMX Playoffs for the SuperMotocross World Championship. Thrasher returned to racing for the first time since the Hangtown Motocross Classic in June, where he competed with a broken collarbone. He confirmed last week that he would participate in the SMX Playoffs. After missing most of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, Thrasher qualified in the 20th and final position, securing a spot in the motos based on combined AMA Supercross and Motocross points. Unfortunately, he suffered a significant crash in the sand section during qualifying, resulting in a hematoma on his leg. He ended up 22nd in qualifying times.

Check out photos of Thrasher’s crash below, taken by Stephan Legrand of LeBigUSA.com.In the first 250SMX moto, Thrasher started later in the field but pulled off after just four laps. The #57 Yamaha was absent from the line for the second moto, with Cole Thompson stepping in, leading to Thrasher finishing 21st overall for the day.

Yamaha commented on Thrasher’s situation in their post-race release, stating, “Regrettably, Nate Thrasher experienced a crash earlier and attempted to compete but ultimately had to withdraw. It was a challenging return to racing for him, especially after a crash during qualifying that resulted in a hematoma on his leg. The rider from Tennessee was ready for the first moto but decided to withdraw from the event. He will undergo evaluation throughout the week, and further updates will be provided.”Additionally, it’s worth noting that Thrasher’s determination to return to racing, despite the setbacks, highlights his resilience and commitment to the sport. His decision to prioritize recovery and future performance over immediate participation reflects a strategic mindset as he looks to regain his competitive edge in the upcoming races.
