At the end of last year it was announced that Nicholas Lapucci will move up to the MXGP World Championship with the Maddii Fantic Racing team he won the EMX250 title with. The initial plan was for Lapucci to race a 450cc four stroke but it’s now been confirmed that the Italian will line up with a 250cc two stroke in the MXGP world championship.
It’ll be pretty cool to see how Lapucci performs on the two-stroke against the four-strokes. The Italian hasn’t had the best of off-seasons as he picked up an injury but still raced the International Italian series. He might not be fully fit for the opening round but he’ll continue to improve as the season progresses.
“Two strokes land to MXGP World Championship. We’re glad to announce that Nicholas Lapucci will compete in the MXGP World Championship on the Factory Fantic XX250. The great successes achieved pushed us in this exciting adventure, making two-strokes lovers even more thrilled of this new chapter. Can’t wait to let ourselves be totally overwhelmed by the strong enthusiasm of 2022 world championship”, Fantic stated on social media.
