Steve Matthes has obtained information regarding an update on Team USA for the MXoN event. It appears that Plessinger will be included in the team, and there’s a possibility of Barcia riding a 250f, aiming to become the new standout rider for the USA. Interestingly, Haiden Deegan, who has been considered a rising star, seems to be reluctant to participate. This is unexpected news considering Deegan’s recent patriotic statements during the outdoor season about the importance of an American rider winning in the Nationals against competitors like Aussie Lawrence. However, when it comes to competing outside the USA against fellow young talents such as Belgium’s Coenen (aged 16) and de Wolf (aged 18), Deegan’s enthusiasm seems to wane.
This situation is disappointing as Haiden is undoubtedly a highly promising rider and one of America’s brightest talents in quite some time. Witnessing a contest among some of the world’s finest teenage riders in the 250 class at Ernee, all vying for their country, would have been truly thrilling for motocross enthusiasts. Moreover, for Team USA, Deegan’s decision not to participate is a significant setback. He could have been pivotal to their chances of achieving victory against formidable competitors like Australia, Netherlands, and France. His performance on the powerful Star Yamaha, reminiscent of Cooper’s excellent starts and speed last year, could have been a determining factor. Hopefully, Deegan will still opt to participate in the event.
From people I spoke to, team USA becoming a bit clearer- sounds like AP is in, doesn’t sound like Deegan wants to do it, Barcia 250F? Hmmmm
