Mikkel Haarup future has been a hot topic since the conclusion of the 2024 MX2 World Championship, where he achieved a career-best fifth-place finish.
Having aged out of MX2, the Danish rider faced uncertainty heading into 2025. However, a new opportunity appears to be taking shape—one that could see him tackle an entirely different challenge in the U.S.
Haarup has already secured a deal with Triumph Racing to race in MXGP, but that won’t happen until 2026, as the factory 450cc bike is still in development. This left many wondering about his plans for the upcoming season. Recent reports indicate that Haarup is setting his sights on the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship, competing in the 250cc class.
Currently in the U.S., he is believed to be preparing for the outdoor season, which kicks off in late May. There have also been rumors that he intended to race the 250cc Supercross series but suffered an injury during training. While this may have delayed his American debut, all indications suggest he’ll be ready when the AMA Nationals begin in May.
