SuperMotocross Payouts Going to Teams, Not Riders!

    By DirtbikeLoverAugust 21, 2023Updated:August 21, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

The SuperMotocross World Championship had made an exciting announcement. They had revealed that a staggering one million dollars would be granted to the victor of the 450 class championship. Additionally, a substantial sum of $500,000 was set to be bestowed upon the triumphant rider in the 250 class. This announcement was accompanied by a comprehensive breakdown of the entire season’s points distribution for the amalgamated series. Moreover, they had meticulously outlined the race format protocols for the three-round playoff stage.

    250 Payout

According to the most recent update from Steve Matthes, he clarifies that the funds for the SuperMotocross Playoffs will be directed towards the teams rather than the riders, but he anticipates that the money will eventually find its way to the riders. Steve proposes that if the choice had been made to provide compensation to teams, it should have been clearly articulated beforehand, outlining whether riders would receive the full sum, 90%, or a different percentage. He points out the absence of this detail in current rider agreements, highlighting the presence of teams in the sport that might not prioritize the best interests of the riders.

If you're gonna pay the teams, which I'm fine with & SMX does this, it should've been spelled out before so riders can get in ink that they get 100% of the money, 90%, etc…breaking news, there have been shady teams in our sport. Riders don't have this in any deals https://t.co/9bPIzCb2HP

So the next question is how the privateers are going to get paid because most of them are without teams. Steve says that whoever enters the SuperMotocross will get their money…

Whoever enters the rider gets the money so you islanders are good https://t.co/9qy4rnaJae
