Ricki Gilmour, also known as “Gilly,” is an Australian transplant to the USA, living in California, working for KYB suspension. Ricki has had a unique relationship with Eli Tomac, working as his suspension technician, off and on, for Eli Tomac’s entire Pro Supercross and motocross career. He also helped Dylan Ferrandis win his 2021 Pro Motocross 450 Championship and he’s worked with many other top riders.
Ricki’s job never ends, he’s at the races on the weekends, traveling to and from the races two days out of the week and he’s at the track testing or in the shop working on suspension the other days. When Motocross Action spoke with Ricki at the 2023 Seattle Supercross, he didn’t know where he was going the following week. Either Florida to test with the Star Racing Yamaha team, Colorado to test at Eli Tomac’s house, or home to Southern California, to work in the Yamaha shop. In this interview, Ricki tells us about his job and his history working with Eli Tomac from the Geico Honda 250 days to his current program with Star Racing Yamaha.
