2026 MXGP of Argentina, Bariloche RD1 – Race Results!

    By DirtbikeLoverMarch 8, 2026Updated:March 8, 2026No Comments2 Mins Read

The 2026 MXGP FIM Motocross World Championship season is about to explode into life in South America, as the brand-new Bariloche MX Track hosts the YPF MXGP of Argentina for the very first time towards the southern end of the continent’s second-biggest nation!

The 2026 season sees a massively exciting line-up for the premier MXGP class, as defending World Champion Romain Febvre debuts the #1 plate on his Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP machine, with last year’s silver medallist Lucas Coenen sporting a new #5 plate on his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing steed.  All they have changed is their racing number, but there have been far more substantial shifts than that during the off-season!

Five-time World Champion Tim Gajser is the most successful rider in Argentina with three GP victories, but this year he starts in blue on his GP debut for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, his first change of brand for over a decade! His fellow five-time Champion Jeffrey Herlings has also moved camp, after 16 years with his previous team he makes his GP debut this weekend for Honda HRC Petronas, with an all-new look and title sponsor coming with him!

MX2 Race1 – Race One: After an eventful day in Argentina, Simon Längenfelder showed why he’s the world champion. Janis Reisulis led early, but Längenfelder started second, passed him, and pulled away for the win with Coenen finishing behind. Reisulis held on well but lost third late to Farres. Mathis Valin finished fifth, Camden McLellan sixth after a crash, and Liam Everts charged from last after a first-corner fall to seventh.

MXGP Race 1 Race One: Jeffrey Herlings grabbed the holeshot despite a poor gate pick and battled teammate Tom Vialle for the lead. Vialle briefly passed him, but Herlings struck back late to take the win. Romain Febvre finished third after closing the gap but couldn’t make a move on the leaders. Lucas Coenen tipped over while chasing Febvre and ended fourth, while Pauls Jonass impressed in fifth ahead of Tim Gajser and Maxime Renaux.
