Jo Shimoda Injury Update After Unadilla – Broken Collarbone

    By DirtbikeLoverAugust 12, 2024No Comments1 Min Read

Honda HRC announced in their press release this afternoon that Jo Shimoda has a broken his collarbone as a result in his crash in the second moto at Unadilla on Saturday.

Shimoda secured a fourth-place start and swiftly moved up to second, where he consistently challenged for the lead throughout most of the race. However, with just four laps remaining, he went down in a corner. Although it was essentially a minor tip-over, the awkwardness of the incident led to a broken collarbone, forcing the Japanese rider to withdraw. Meanwhile, Hymas started the second moto, but the lingering effects of his Moto 1 crash caused him to pull out about one-third of the way through.

“It felt great to be up front and battling for the lead, but unfortunately the battle didn’t end the way we wanted it to. I ended up with a broken collarbone, and I’ll have to get a plate put in. Obviously, that’s not how we wanted the day to go, but we’ll come back stronger once I’m healed.”
