Aidan Zingg Family Files Lawsuit, Claims Fatal Motocross Accident Was Preventable!

    By DirtbikeLoverJanuary 4, 2026No Comments2 Mins Read

The parents of motocross rider Aidan Zingg, who died in June 2025 at just 16 years old, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against multiple organizations connected to the race in which he was fatally injured, claiming his death was preventable.

Robert and Shari Zingg allege the crash was caused by negligent race operations and faulty safety equipment, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly. The lawsuit names 2XP LLC, Alterra Mountain Company, the American Motorcyclist Association, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, and Revelyst Adventure Sports as defendants.

The suit stems from a Mammoth Motocross event held on June 28, 2025, in Mammoth Lakes, California. According to the complaint, Aidan crashed in a corner of the track that was not staffed by a flagger, leaving other riders unaware he was down. The race allegedly continued for several minutes before being stopped.

The complaint also claims Aidan’s protective gear showed signs of impact from another rider and that his chest protector was damaged. The family’s attorney, Kevin Biniazan, said the lawsuit seeks accountability and hopes to push for safer race operations and equipment to prevent future tragedies.

Aidan’s death comes amid growing safety concerns in youth motocross. According to USA Today, 158 children have died in dirt bike and motocross-related incidents since 2000. The lawsuit also follows the recent death of 17-year-old rider Enzo Badenas during a training accident in Spain in December 2025.
