KTM has a new owner starting today, and it’s Bajaj Auto. After months of financial turbulence in Austria, Bajaj stepped in with an €800 million rescue package and has now secured full control of KTM’s parent company. The Indian giant moved from a passive 37.5% shareholder to the majority and controlling force behind KTM, Husqvarna, and GASGAS.
As part of the takeover, KTM’s corporate structure is being reshaped: Pierer Bajaj AG is now Bajaj Auto International Holdings AG, and Pierer Mobility AG is now Bajaj Mobility AG. Bajaj is now steering the board, strategy, and future roadmap of the entire group.
For KTM fans, this marks a major transition. With fresh funding and new leadership, the orange brand gets a lifeline after near-insolvency — but also steps into a new chapter driven from India.
Impact on the Motocross World
Worldwide
Bajaj’s control could reshape how KTM, Husqvarna, and GASGAS approach racing globally. With stronger financial stability, the factory programs are likely to be better funded, keeping them a powerhouse in MXGP and SX/MX development.
Bajaj’s manufacturing philosophy may also lead to:
- More production shifting to India/Asia
- Faster rollout of new bike generations
- More competitive global pricing
The KTM Group will stay strong—but with a new direction.
United States – AMA Supercross & Pro Motocross
In the U.S., the impact is already visible. KTM has pulled major talent for 2025, landing Eli Tomac and Jorge Prado alongside Aaron Plessinger—meaning they will line up with three full factory 450 riders next season.
This is something KTM hasn’t done in years and signals a massive investment in the American program. With Bajaj’s financial backing, KTM is clearly going all-in on Supercross and Pro Motocross.
Expect:
- Bigger budgets
- Top-tier rider lineups
- Stronger U.S. factory development
If Bajaj wants to make a global statement, winning in America is the fastest way to do it—and KTM is now positioned for a serious title run.
