Brian Deegan shared strong opinions following the main event, questioning whether veteran riders like Max Anstie should “know every trick in the book” by this stage of their careers, while stressing he meant no disrespect—only that they’re racing within the rules.
Deegan argued the 250 Lights class should prioritize younger riders, suggesting an age cap around 25 to give emerging talent a real opportunity. He also questioned why, if the class remains open-age, it shouldn’t be paid on the same level as the 450s, noting that manufacturers rely just as heavily on 250 success to sell bikes.
He closed by highlighting burnout across the sport, saying the packed race schedule takes a major physical and mental toll. Deegan believes fewer races, built-in breaks, and smarter scheduling could extend careers without changing who ultimately wins.
