According to Steve Matthes on the latest Racer X/PulpMX review podcast, Star Racing Yamaha 250 Team Manager Jensen Hendler and Triumph Racing America General Manager Jeremy Coker have reportedly been suspended from next weekend’s SMX round over comments made in a private team-manager group text. The discussion reportedly centered around the brutal conditions in Columbus, with several managers frustrated about the cost and damage associated with racing through the mud — including potential engine and component damage.
There was also reportedly discussion about whether the second moto should even have gone ahead. Matthes and Jason Weigandt said they had seen at least some of the messages and didn’t consider the comments particularly aggressive or abusive. The team managers had reportedly been warned previously about excessive negativity in the group chat, but the punishment they understood was removal from the chat — not being barred from an SMX event.
