During the post-race interview, Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence was asked about racing with Eli Tomac of Star Racing Yamaha, as fans were looking forward to it.
Jett said, “It was cool to kind of follow him. Obviously, nowadays he’s not the exact beast he used to be, but he’s still Eli Tomac, so it’s kinda cool to follow him, just learn off him. I just got close enough to where we could make a pass, and I was looking forward to a battle. But I was able to kind of just get to the inside a little bit and still leave a bit of room. Then, I just put my head down, kept on clicking the laps off, and I had a safety net with a bit of a gap. I just kept on trying to see if I could chip away at Jason, but I just ended up running out of time.”
