Joey Savatgy Injury Update – “I’ve Decided to Get my Knee Fixed”

    adminBy adminJanuary 23, 2022Updated:January 23, 2022No Comments1 Min Read

Joey Savatgy announced that he had suffered a torn ACL prior to the last round in Oakland. Savatgy pushed through for an 11th in Oakland and was hoping to continue racing.

Well, after a crash in the heat race last night, Savatgy has decided he’s going to get his knee fixed. He made the announcement on Instagram:

“Well. I tried, I love this job so much and sometimes it’s cruel. Trying to race and not being near 100% isn’t ideal, especially in this class. Yesterday was tough, with a track filled with right handers and some tough whoops the knee gave me all it could. But the crash in the heat was the final straw, so I’ve decided to get my knee fixed. Anyone who supports team 17 I appreciate you more than you know, sometimes it feels like you keep getting punched in the face but this will pass. I will keep everyone updated as events happen. I will be back.”

Surgery will likely end Savatgy’s supercross season, which is a bummer because he was off to a solid start.
