At today’s Ironman National, motocross insider Steve Matthes shared an intriguing update about Jorge Prado’s future in the sport. Later, Michael Lindsey added more context to the ongoing contract saga surrounding the Spanish star.
According to Lindsey, Jorge Prado is exploring the possibility of joining KTM on a “bonus-only” deal, but only if he can successfully exit his current contract with Kawasaki. While Kawasaki sources confirm that Prado has not yet formally requested to be released, they are aware that conversations with KTM have taken place.
Prado’s 2025 season with Kawasaki has been a difficult one. Once considered a rising superstar destined to challenge the top riders, Jorge has struggled to find consistency on the Kawasaki KX450. A mix of injuries and adaptation issues have hindered his performance, leaving fans and teams wondering if a change of scenery might reignite his career.
The potential KTM deal, structured as a bonus-only contract, suggests that Prado and KTM are cautiously optimistic about what lies ahead — but only if contractual obstacles with Kawasaki can be resolved.
Like Prado having the option to go to KTM on a bonus only deal if he can get out of his Kawasaki contract. According to Kawi sources, he hasn’t asked to get out yet but they’re aware that the KTM conversation has happened… https://t.co/dWzV7hcoGA
