Ken Roczen recently weighed in on Jorge Prado’s struggles in his first full U.S. motocross season, sharing insights from his own experience transitioning from Europe.
“I expected him to be a little bit better,” Roczen admitted. “We’re a few rounds in, and I haven’t seen that step-by-step progression.”
Roczen pointed to potential issues with bike setup and team dynamics, saying, “If the bike’s not right, I’m not great either. The rider and team relationship is everything.”
He also downplayed talk about the bike’s power being a problem. “There’s no shot in hell the bike isn’t fast enough,” Roczen said. “It’s probably more about chassis or suspension feel.”
While some believe the tracks may be the issue, Roczen isn’t sold: “He’s raced enough to figure it out. You just have to adapt fast.”
Still, Roczen remains hopeful: “He’s under construction. You’ve got to dig a little to find what he needs to be confident—then we’ll see what he’s really capable of.”
