Ryan Hughes believes triples are the most dangerous obstacle in Supercross. His concern is simple: when one rider checks up and doubles while another commits to the triple without seeing him, it can lead to severe mid-air collisions.
Hughes suggests replacing triples with longer tabletops or “banana-style” jumps that still allow big air but reduce the risk of riders landing on each other.
He also feels modern tracks are too fast and too smooth, limiting passing and increasing risk. His solution: slow the tracks down and build more technical, unpredictable sections that improve both safety and racing.
Hughes’ message is clear — if Supercross wants better safety and better racing, track design needs to change.
