Just when it looked like Aaron Plessinger was about to secure second place behind Jorge Prado in the heat race with one corner to go, disaster struck. Plessinger came up short on a massive double and was thrown clear of his KTM.
Incredibly, he got back to his feet and limped the bike across the line in eighth—just enough to qualify directly for the main event. Still, after that brutal hit, he was clearly shaken and headed back to the pits on the mule.
Following an evaluation at the medical center, AP remained optimistic, saying:
“It was a hell of a crash. I’m glad I’m not hurt. We’ll be back for the main.”
